1. Our agreement
These terms apply to the Golf PinTheory iOS app (also displayed as PinTheory) and this information website, provided by FairwayVector, operated by Contrain in Sweden ("we," "us," or "our"). Contact: hello@fairwayvector.com.
By using the app or website, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree, do not use them. You must have the legal capacity to enter this agreement, or the permission and supervision required by the laws that apply to you.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Mandatory consumer rights are not limited by these terms.
2. Permission to use the app
Subject to these terms and applicable App Store rules, you may use the app for your personal, non-commercial golf activities on compatible devices that you own or control. This permission is limited, non-exclusive, and non-transferable except as allowed by applicable platform rules or law.
You agree not to:
- Use the app or website unlawfully, interfere with their security, or attempt unauthorized access to systems or services.
- Extract, redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit provider course, map, weather, or terrain data without the necessary permission.
- Copy or distribute the app, remove attribution, or reverse-engineer it except where applicable law expressly allows it.
- Use automated requests or other methods that abuse external-service limits or disrupt service for others.
3. Estimates, course rules, and safe play
Golf tools are not guarantees
Club recommendations, carry distances, ball-flight simulations, and wedge or handicap projections depend on your inputs, modeling assumptions, device positioning, and available data. Real results vary with your swing, equipment, conditions, and other factors. An estimated carry is not a guarantee of total distance, landing position, or a safe route.
Course and environmental information can be incomplete
GPS, maps, flag positions, course geometry, weather, and elevations may be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, unavailable, or based on demonstration data. Terrain information does not identify every obstacle or guarantee clearance. Confirm important information on the course and pay attention to any data-source or demonstration labels.
Your decisions remain yours
Check that your intended shot is safe. Do not operate the app while doing so would distract you from other players, vehicles, hazards, or your surroundings. Follow course instructions and local rules. Check whether distance-measuring devices, environmental information, or advice features are allowed in your competition.
Handicap calculations and projections are for personal information. They are not an official Handicap Index, certification, or substitute for an authorized golf association’s records. No affiliation with or endorsement by a golf governing body is implied.
4. Your inputs and saved records
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter and for having permission to enter information about other players. You retain your rights in your own records; we do not acquire ownership of them simply because you use the app.
The current app stores golf records locally and does not provide user-facing account-based cloud backup or synchronization. Records may be lost if app data is deleted, a device is lost, storage fails, or a transfer or update goes wrong. Keep a separate copy of important information and manage your device backups. Offline availability depends on which data has already been loaded or saved.
Deleting a scorecard or changing local information does not necessarily alter any separate handicap record or third-party record. Review the relevant app controls before deleting data.
5. External services
Some features depend on Apple Maps, weather, course-data, elevation, or other external services. Availability, course coverage, licensing, quotas, and connection requirements can affect the information shown. A provider may change, restrict, or discontinue its service.
You must respect applicable third-party terms and attribution requirements. External websites are independent of us. Our links do not imply endorsement or a guarantee of their content. The Privacy Policy’s connected-services section describes supported data flows.
Do not rely on an internet connection, provider response, or cached data being continuously available. Your own mobile data and connectivity charges may apply.
6. Availability, updates, and purchases
Features may differ by app version, device, region, configuration, and provider coverage. We may update the app, correct errors, or change features and supported services. Where the law requires updates, notice, consent, a remedy, or other protection, those requirements apply.
This website is an information site and does not take payments. Any app price or purchase offered through the App Store must be disclosed there before purchase. Applicable Apple payment, cancellation, and refund procedures, together with your statutory rights, govern purchases through Apple. These terms do not create a subscription or recurring payment.
For an App Store download, Apple’s applicable usage rules and standard end user license agreement apply where relevant. These terms supplement, and do not remove rights under, those rules or any applicable license.
7. Intellectual property
The app and website design, software, branding, and original content belong to us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law. Third-party maps, course information, imagery, and other data remain subject to their owners’ rights and licenses.
You may not use the FairwayVector or PinTheory names or marks to suggest an affiliation or endorsement without permission. Nothing here restricts uses that applicable law allows without our consent.
8. Responsibility and limitations
We aim to provide useful golf tools, but do not promise that every estimate will be accurate, that all data will be complete, or that access will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided on an "as available" basis without additional guarantees beyond those required by law or expressly given to you.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate inputs, reliance on estimates instead of your own judgment, third-party service failures outside our reasonable control, or your failure to maintain appropriate copies of local records. We do not accept liability for business losses arising from personal use of the app.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This includes applicable statutory consumer remedies and liability for fraud, intentional wrongdoing, gross negligence, or death or personal injury where the law prevents limitation. These terms do not remove our responsibility for failing to meet mandatory legal obligations.
9. Ending use and changes to these terms
You can stop using the app or website at any time. Removing the app and its data is subject to your device’s storage and backup controls. Terms intended to continue by their nature, such as ownership and applicable responsibility provisions, survive the end of use.
We may take proportionate steps to restrict misuse of services we control, subject to applicable law and any required notice or opportunity to remedy a breach.
If we change these terms, we will update this page and its date. Where a material change requires notice or agreement, we will provide it as required by applicable law. Changes do not retroactively remove rights you already have.
10. Governing law, disputes, and contact
These terms are governed by Swedish law, except that mandatory protections of the law of your country of habitual residence continue to apply where required. Nothing in these terms prevents you from bringing a claim in a court available to you under mandatory consumer law.
If you have a concern, please contact us first at hello@fairwayvector.com so we can try to resolve it. Where applicable, Swedish consumers may also seek independent dispute resolution through Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), subject to its eligibility rules.
